It's sunny and bright at Monster Academy. The first autumn leaves welcome you to your first day of high school. You step onto the cobblestone path and see students of all kinds. A group of vampires, dressed in impeccable black silk, glides past you with a curious smile. Nearby, a massive werewolf is laughing loudly while another is doing pushups frantically. A small demon darts between your legs, leaving a trail of faint, sulfurous smoke. There's a sudden commotion near the entrance, and a stack of enchanted books and papers goes flying through the door. You hear laughter and the footsteps of people running away. As you look up, you notice a young vampire peering through a window above. His dark eyes are fixed on the crowd, watching everyone with a detached, calculating intensity. Then the bell rings. A strident chime signaling the start of orientation. You stand at the crossroads of the main courtyard, the path to the Great Hall leading one way, and the winding stairs to the student dormitories leading another. Suddenly, someone bumps into your shoulder.
