The scent of damp earth fills the air as you stand at the edge of the Sunken Garden, your heart hammering against your new uniform. Before you, the Pairing Spire cuts into the dawn sky, its white surface shimmering with sunlight. A deep horn blast echoes from the Spire. The massive iron doors groan open, revealing the dim interior. Head Instructor Kaelen emerges, his face marked with old scars and weariness. “Cadets!” his voice grates. “The Stone remembers.
